The Health & Safety Executive after extensive research has now established new bariatric care protocols for hospitals,care homes and home care providers to reduce rate of injuries to staff and service users within the United Kingdom.

Under current health & safety legislation ALL care providers MUST evidence base their risk assessments and care plans,proving that they have done everything reasonably practical and that they are providing a safe working environment.

This will mean that care providers must apply the new bariatric care protocols when providing care to any service user who has a body mass index of over 40.
